Strawberry Picking Tips

The best time to pick strawberries is in the morning when it is still cool outside. Pickers should bring hats and sunscreen as well to protect themselves from the sun.

Strawberries do not ripen after being picked, so you want to pick bright red, shiny, fully formed strawberries. When picking them, gently twist the stem about 1/4 inch above the berries and they should come off. Do not just tug at them with force since you could damage the strawberries and the plants.
