8 Fruity Candies to Pack Your Easter Baskets With
Posted by Gwen Watson on Apr 2, 2015
When I was a kid, the Easter bunny would leave me a giant basket packed with candy. Even though I love chocolate, the candies that I looked forward to the most were those that had a fruity flavor. To me, they were the perfect flavors for spring! This year, rather than stuff your baskets with chocolate, why not try some of these fruitier choices instead? Here are some of our favorite fruity Easter candies to pack in your baskets:
Marshmallow Peeps
Marshmallow Peeps are a classic Easter candy that kids look forward to each year. They’re not only cut into cute Easter shapes, but they also come in a variety of flavors. These include raspberry, strawberry, and orange cream. They’re a must-have for any Easter basket!
Fruity Jellybeans
Easter just wouldn’t be complete without jellybeans! But beware, not all of them have a fruity flavor. You can find them in a host of unexpected flavors such as popcorn, mint, and even pepper. The most popular flavors, however, are still the fruity ones such as strawberry, lemon, and lime.
Easter Gummy Candies
Gummy candies can be worked into almost any shape but they’re an especially popular choice at Easter. You can find gummies that have been formed into Easter shapes such as Easter Bunnies, baby chicks, and Easter eggs. Also, they usually come in fruit flavors such as strawberry, raspberry, and watermelon.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Even though this isn’t a traditional candy, chocolate covered strawberries are a great choice for any Easter basket, especially for adults. It’s also a healthier option because they include real fruit. One thing that makes this treat really special is that strawberries are in season right around Eastertime.
Cream Filled Easter Eggs
Several chocolate manufacturers make their own versions of these filled Easter eggs and many of them have a fruity, creamy center. You can find chocolate eggs filled with strawberry, orange, cherry, or raspberry cream centers. For many, enjoying these candies is an Easter tradition!
Easter Lollipops
Lollipops are a favorite treat for Easter, especially when they are cut into common Easter shapes, like the Easter Bunny or Easter eggs. If you want to pack the Easter baskets with something fruity, consider sticking with classic lollipop flavors such as cherry or lemon.
Pastel Colored Skittles
Skittles are brightly colored, bite-sized candies that taste like fruit. The Easter version of this candy has the same delicious flavors as the regular version, but with the pastel colors that have come to represent this holiday. You can even find Skittles that are shaped like Easter eggs.
Easter Candy Corn
Most of us are familiar with the butter flavored caramel corn that’s popular around Halloween. Did you know that there is an Easter version as well? These candies taste similar but are decorated in pastel colors. However, some companies save the butter flavor for the candy corn that is available in the fall and make the Easter candy corns a little fruitier.
