4 Delicious Cocktails for Fall

While the leaves are changing colors outside, it’s time to revamp what’s in your cocktail glass! Fall cocktails are typically either spicy, hot, or a combination of both. Here are some of our favorite autumn-inspired cocktails:
Mulled Wine
Mulled wine starts tasting great right when the fall weather hits. Add a bottle of red wine to a saucepan with ½ cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of orange zest, the juice of 1 orange (zest the orange before juicing), 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 teaspoon whole cloves, and ½ teaspoon whole allspice berries and simmer on low heat for about twenty minutes, or until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add a cinnamon stick and ½ shot of brandy or spiced rum to each mug and pour in the mulled wine. Drink it while it’s still hot!
Apple Cider Sangria
A twist on a summer favorite, this apple cider sangria has all the spicy and sweet flavors that make fall special. To make your own, simmer one bottle of red table wine over low heat in a saucepan with 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 whole cinnamon sticks, and the juice of ½ an orange for 15 minutes; let cool completely. Fill a large pitcher with ice. Add 4 cups of apple cider and the wine mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon and pour into a tall glass filled halfway with ice. If serving this Sangria hot, add the apple cider to the saucepan after the wine simmers with the spices. To give this sangria an extra kick, add a shot of brandy to the glass or mug before you pour the sangria in. Stir well with a cocktail stirrer.
Hot Buttered Rum
Spiced rum is also great for fall, and it’s even better in this hot buttered rum cocktail! Cream ½ stick unsalted, room temperature butter in a mixing bowl with 1 cup light brown sugar, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon ground cloves until the mixture is smooth. Divide the butter mixture and add to 5 mugs. Each mug should get about 1 ½ tablespoons of the butter mixture. Fill each mug about halfway with spiced or dark rum and then top off each mug with boiling water. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and enjoy!
Pumpkin Spice Martini
This pumpkin spice martini is an elegant drink that will be an instant favorite. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add 1 1/2 ounces vanilla vodka, 1 1/2 ounces of Irish cream liqueur, and 1 1/2 ounces pumpkin liqueur. Shake vigorously for about a minute and pour into a cold martini glass. Sprinkle with a little ground cinnamon and nutmeg and serve immediately.
Enjoy these cocktails inspired by fall flavors throughout the fall season!
