Our Favorite Fruity Halloween Candies
Posted by Gwen Watson on Oct 17, 2014
Halloween is right around the corner. Have you picked out your kids’ costumes yet? What about your own? More importantly, have you decided what kind of candy you’ll hand out to trick-or-treaters? Let’s face it, you can earn a reputation for giving out good (or bad) candy! There’s obviously the chocolaty go-to’s like M&M’s, Snickers, and Milky Way but (shock!) not everyone likes chocolate! Are you planning to have something on hand for the non-chocolate lovers out there, or for the children that are worried about nuts?
Here’s a list of our favorite fruity Halloween candies:
Skittles
Skittles has to be at the top of the list. Who doesn’t love to “taste the rainbow”? The original fruit Skittles are the standard, but if you feel like going crazy you can also try the Tropical or Wild Berry varieties.
Starburst
What’s great about Starburst on Halloween is that each piece is individually wrapped. Keep the flavors you like, trade the ones you don’t.
Lifesavers and Lifesavers gummies
Lifesavers come in a variety of flavors. If you’re buying candy for little ones, the Lifesavers gummies are a safer option.
Twizzlers
If you love the taste of cherries, Twizzlers are the candy for you. Not only are they tasty, they are also fun to eat. Have you ever tried to use one as a straw?
Lollipops
Lollipops have a bad rep because they can be associated with trips to the doctor. Wait, do doctor’s still give them out? Either way, we’re not saying you should give out those types of dull lollipops. Blowpops are probably the most popular brand because they have gum in them but Dum Dum pops are equally yummy.
Smarties
There’s nothing too exciting about Smarties, but they have been a pillowcase staple on Halloween for many years.
DOTS
DOTS is the number one selling gumdrop brand in the U.S. and is a popular movie theater treat. You can choose from Original DOTS or Tropical DOTS.
Tootsie Fruit Rolls
Tootsie fruit rolls look the same as the original Tootsie rolls and are just as chewy, but are fruit-flavored.
Hot Tamales
If you like “hot” candy, these are for you.
Laffy Taffy
Each piece has a joke inside the wrapper. How fun is that?
Nerds
Nerds are like rock candy. It’s basically just sugar. But that’s what Halloween is for right?
Mike & Ike’s
Mike & Ike’s are similar to Hot Tamales, but they aren’t “hot”. They are also kosher and gluten free!
Sour Patch Kids
Sour and sweet. The best of both worlds.
Airheads
Today’s Airheads are supposedly softer and chewier than they were back in the day. You decide.
Pixy Stix
Basically just pouring fruit flavored sugar down your throat. We won’t judge.
Candy Corn
OK, we had to put this one on the list! The quintessential Halloween candy.
Are we missing any from this list? What are your favorite Halloween candies?
Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
