5 Summer Fruits to Try on the Grill

As much as we hate to admit it, there are but a few precious weeks of summer left. And who knows – maybe you’re all about fall with its cozy sweaters and belly-warming stews – but right now, currently immersed in the heat of summer, it’s hard for us not to find the most appealing season as it offers us some of the freshest and most delicious fruits of the year.

To make the most of summer fruits, we’re always trying to come up with new ways to use them in recipes and this year, we started grilling them! It may sound strange, but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it – especially these 5 combinations:

1. Pineapple
This couldn’t be simpler or more delicious. Just take round (and cored) pineapple slices and put them onto the grill for a few minutes, or until golden brown. Top with vanilla ice cream.

2. Peaches
If you can’t get over the peach fuzz, you can use nectarines, but either way, this easy dessert is sure to please. Simply half the peaches, remove the pit, brush with oil, sprinkle on cinnamon, salt, and sugar, and grill until golden. Top with butter and garnish with mint leaves.

3. Watermelon
Hooked on watermelon with feta and mint? Then you’re going to fall head over heels for this recipe with honey, tomatoes, mozzarella, and fresh basil.

4. Grapes
Take clusters of grapes, gently toss them in oil and/or balsamic vinegar, and grill covered on medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes.

5. Banana
This dessert is b-a-n-a-n-a-s in the best possible way. Cut still-in-the-peel bananas length-wise and stuff with chocolate chips, marshmallows, and/or shaved coconut. Place on the grill and cook until the peels are black.
