6 Ways to Make Fruit Infused Water

Plain water is good for you but let’s face it – it can be rather boring! Infusing your water with fruit helps you change the flavor without adding calories. All you need to do is add fresh fruit to a pitcher and let the flavors infuse into the water! Here are some of our favorite combinations:

Classic Spa Water

Lemon is energizing and detoxifying and water tastes especially refreshing when infused with it. It’s also a staple at spas! Wash a lemon thoroughly with warm water. Cut into slices cross-wise and add to the pitcher. Fill the pitcher to the top with water, cover, and refrigerate until water is cold, which should take about 3 hours. You can also add ½ a sliced cucumber and/or mint with the lemon to make it even more refreshing!

Lemon-Lime Water

Lemons and limes are a classic pairing, and they taste great when infused in water. Instead of tap water, try using sparkling water for a drink reminiscent of lemon-lime soda! Cut half a lemon and half a lime into slices. Add to the pitcher and fill to the top with tap or sparkling water. Add a touch of agave to each glass to make it a little sweeter, if desired.

Berry Water

Berries, such as strawberries and blueberries, taste great when infused into water! You can either choose your favorite berry or create a medley with several different kinds. Raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries taste especially delicious. To make, add ½ cup berries to a pitcher and fill to the top with water. If using strawberries, you’ll want to slice them first. Refrigerate until cool, which should take about 3 hours. Berry also tastes great with mint so feel free to add a sprig of mint to the pitcher in addition to the fruit!

Melon Water

Melon, such as cantaloupe and watermelon, are especially delicious when infused into water! Add about 1 cup of cut up melon chunks to the pitcher. Fill to the top with water, cover, and place in the refrigerator until cool, which should take about three hours. Melon also tastes great when paired with aromatic herbs such as mint or chamomile, so feel free to add a few mint leaves or fresh chamomile flowers to the pitcher while the water is infusing.

Grapefruit-Watermelon Water

Grapefruit and watermelon offer contrasting flavors in this infusion, which makes it especially refreshing. Add ½ cup of melon chunks and ½ sliced grapefruit to a pitcher. Fill to the top with water, cover, and place in the refrigerator for about 3 hours or until the fruit flavor is fully infused and the water is cold.

Peach Water

Peaches also make a delicate infusion for water. Peel and cut a fresh peach into slices. Remove the pit and discard. Place the peach slices into the pitcher and fill to the top with water. Cover and place in the refrigerator until completely cool and the flavors are infused. Add a few slices of lemon to the water while it’s infusing to give the water a refreshing zing.
