5 Harvest Dip Ideas for Fall
Posted by Gwen Watson on Oct 23, 2015
Dips are not only a great party food, but they’re also versatile. These recipes use the best ingredients from the fall harvest, such as apples and pumpkins. Plus, with the holiday season fast approaching, it’s a great idea to have ingredients for these dips on hand to serve to guests.
Pumpkin Dessert Dip
Sweet dips are a popular choice for dipping fruit, cookies, and other sweet foods. This dip combines pumpkin and sweet whipped topping to make a creamy dip that will satisfy your sweets cravings! To make, stir together 15 ounces (1 can) of pumpkin purée and 1 cup frozen whipped topping. Mix in 1 package of vanilla pudding and ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice. Serve with slices of fruit and assorted dessert foods, such as brownies and cookies.
Sweet Cream Cheese Caramel Dip
This particular dip tastes like caramel but gets its texture from cream cheese. It tastes especially delicious when served with apple slices (tip to prevent the apple slices from turning brown: sprinkle them with fresh lemon juice). Mix together 1 package of cream cheese that has been softened to room temperature with ½ cup packed brown sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
Fall Spice Dip
Even though this dip is fairly sweet, it’s actually pretty versatile. It tastes just as good with pretzels, chips, and crackers as it does with fruit! Mix together 1 package of softened cream cheese, 1 cup marshmallow cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Serve with slices of fresh fruit, cookies, and assorted snack foods, such as pretzels and potato chips.
Sweet Cranberry Dip
Cranberries are one of the many crops that are harvested in the fall. This simple dip is a great dish to have on hand because it’s perfect to use both as a dip and as a sauce! To make, simmer together 1 pound cranberries, 2 cups orange juice, 2 cups ginger beer, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, 2 tablespoons honey, and ½ teaspoon salt in a saucepan until the mixture is reduced by half. This could take up to 45 minutes. Puree using a blender to give it a smooth consistency. For a more creamy consistency, stir in 1 package of softened cream cheese.
Garlic Walnut Dip
Walnuts are typically harvested in October, which means that fresh walnuts start to hit the produce departments around that time. This dip is especially delicious when served with crackers, vegetables, and snack foods such as potato chips and pretzels. Puree together ¾ cup bread crumbs, ½ cup walnuts, 4 garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon olive oil, ¾ cup cold water, and 2 tablespoons fresh chives in a blender. Besides serving this dip with snack foods and veggie sticks, you can also toss it with spaghetti for a unique pasta dish.
These fall dip recipes are not only great for parties, but they’re also good to have on hand for a quick snack!
