4 Favorite Margarita Recipes
Posted by Gwen Watson on Feb 19, 2016
Since February 22 is National Margarita Day, we thought we’d share some of our favorite margarita recipes. Whether you like a classic-style margarita or something a little more exotic, we have something here to satisfy you! Here are some of our favorite recipes.
Classic Margarita
If you only wanted to master one margarita recipe, this is it! You can easily make the classic margarita in a pitcher and have a few friends over. Fill a large pitcher halfway with ice. Add 12 ounces of defrosted limeade concentrate, 4 ounces orange juice, 8 cups water, 1 liter silver tequila, ¼ cup fresh squeezed lime juice, and 2 tablespoons agave syrup to the pitcher and stir it with a wooden spoon. Pour it into chilled margarita glasses and garnish with a wedge of lime.
Strawberry Margarita
Strawberry margaritas essentially build on the classic margarita recipe, but have all the delicious flavor of strawberries. Thaw 1 cup of frozen strawberries in syrup and then add them to a blender. Pulse until the strawberries are completely smooth. Prepare the classic margarita recipe listed above. Add the puréed strawberries and stir with a wooden spoon until all the ingredients are well combined. Pour into chilled margarita glasses and garnish with a fresh strawberry.
Beer Margarita
Beer fans will love this variation on the classic margarita! Fill a small pitcher halfway with ice. Add a 12 ounce bottle of light beer, 6 ounces of limeade, and 2 shots of silver tequila. Stir with a wooden spoon until the ingredients are well combined and pour into chilled margarita glasses. You can add an extra shot of tequila if you like it a little stronger. You can use any beer that you want, but beers that are lighter in color work best for this recipe.
Cucumber Margarita
Cucumber margaritas are a refreshing twist on an old classic! Peel and chop 2 large English cucumbers. Purée the cucumbers in a blender until completely pulverized. Fit a fine-grained sieve into a mixing bowl and pour the cucumber into the strainer. Let the cucumber water drain out into the mixing bowl for about 30 minutes, occasionally pressing the cucumber puree with a wooden spoon to release some of the moisture. Fill a large pitcher halfway with ice. Add the cucumber water, 16 ounces of silver tequila, 8 ounces light agave nectar, 8 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice, and 8 ounces of Yellow Chartreuse and stir with a wooden spoon. Pour into chilled margarita glasses and garnish with cucumber slices.
These delicious margarita recipes are not only good during National Margarita Day, but you can easily drink them year round! You can also turn any of these recipes into a frozen margarita by adding ½ cup crushed ice to a blender with enough prepared margarita cocktail for one glass and pulsing until the ingredients are well blended. Pour into a large margarita glass and garnish it with a wedge of lime.
